We are happy to report that the entire ‘regulate’ team was able to have a first in-person meeting since over a year. Parental leaves, sickness-related absences, fieldwork and of course COVID have not allowed us to meet earlier. Nevertheless, it was a great time in Landau, Germany with fruitful discussions around current project status, case study research, and individual dissertations.
We are full of enthusiasm for the remaining 3 years of ‘regulate’ project to work together with our partners in Germany, Croatia, Spain and from around the world on groundwater-related challenges. Our insights into telecoupling effects and their (positive/negative/unknown) impacts on groundwater are taking shape – both conceptually and application oriented. Especially against the hot and dry summer in Europe with falling groundwater tables nearly everywhere, we feel even more motivated to come up with evidence-based solutions for managing groundwater sustainably.
